Hey From Chaiten

Hey first off I want to thank everybody for your birthday wishes for me today. We have had a good day so far. We relaxed in the house a little bit then we went to eat lunch with our mamita. I don't know what else we are going to do today. Hang out and go buy food and stuff. Take some pictures maybe. It is probably just going to be a really chill day. Even though it is weird to think that it's been a year since my last birthday. It's crazy how fast the time goes. Just nuts. But thanks everybody for the letters that you sent me wishing a happy birthday.

 

Mom don't worry about a birthday package. It's probably in Pto. Montt right now. We just have to ask the Zone Leaders to send it in bus so that we can get it. But it's all good if there isn't anything to open. That's not what a birthday is all about ha. So don't worry mom. We are doing really well. We have had a good week. We were able to teach 2 lessons to an investigator. We had about 11 people in church and we had 0 investigators in church haha. But it's all good. We are going to work this week to get some investigators in church. We have a couple or 1 that is really good. I haven't taught him yet but we just need to find him. We couldn't pass by because we both had alittle bit of a cold. He didn't want his son to catch it. So we haven't been able to go. But we are going to pass by now. We are going to go today. Hopefully it's the day.. But we are doing well. We will get him. We were able to do some service. We painted a room upstairs to some ladies' house and helped them out a little bit with that. The thing is that the house is really old haha. So I knelt down and almost fell to the 1st floor. A wood plank thing broke and I fell a little bit nothing big. It was really more funny than anything. She told me not to worry about it and that the house is really old so things happen like that. She said that they are still in the process of fixing everything. So that was good that she wasn't mad ha. But just things like that is what we do here. We walk in the street offer service. But what Pres. Rappleye wants is that we can make friends with the people and then bring up the Gospel. That is what we are trying to do. But yea that was our big service for the week. And actually they own a restraunt on the first floor. There are only a couple places to eat out here but thats ok. I think we might go eat later. We are pretty full now. The mamita gave us a bunch of food. She is really good. She is a nice lady. She likes to pick fights with us as jokes so it's always fun at lunch. But anyway we don't just only serve. We look for oppurtinities to teach but sometimes they don't come like we want the to is all. But it's ok. It will progress, the work. Church went well. It was 2 hours like always haha. But a less active member that we are working with came. Actually he owns this internet place where we are at. But he is a good guy. So we got that he came for a little bit. It was good to see him. No, Luckly I didn't have to speak again. But I have an assaignment. I have to teach 2 of the 4 weeks of Sunday School. Since we don't have Priesthood or Relief Society, My companion will teach 2 weeks of Gospel Doctrine and I will teach 2 weeks of The Teachings of the Presidents of the Church: Lorenzo Snow. So that is what is going on here in the Branch. We are also having an activity here this Friday. We are excited for that. We are also still planning what we are going to do haha. But it will come. I am also excited for General Conference that comes very very soon. We are hoping to see it in the church. We are trying to borrow a projector to use one of my sheets as a background and then we are going to us the Wi-Fi of the plaza that is close. I think that we can use it from where we live. So hopefully everything goes well with that. But the other lady who lives in the building is not a member. She is just a friend of the lady who we rent from. But she is moving out in April and the whole house will be ours to use. That is the good thing. I'm excited for that. It will be a whole lot bigger. It is a bigg house but right now we use a room for the Sacrament room. That is it for church. One little room. The rest of it is our house and her house. So that will be good.

Sounds awesome the activity in YW that you guys had mom. That would be really awesome. It would have been fun to be able to do it and see it. I'm glad that you were able to do it. Sounds like the girls learned a lot and so did everybody else. Not only the girls but the participents in everything.

Dad, thanks for your letter that you sent me. It is awesome to hear about your mission experiences. I don't know why I never asked to hear about them before I left. I would love to hear about them. It is also good to see that we have passed some of the same stuff in the mission even though the countries are so far away from each other. Thanks for your love dad and support as your son. I'm glad to have you and mom. Have a great week. Love ya tons.

Hopefully we will have a good week this week. And a good day of course. But that is pretty much everything that is happening here in Chaitén. We are doing well. We are better from our colds and everything. So that is the good thing. We are going to keep going with what we are doing and helping the people here in this sector. Moving to Chaiten

Hey eveybody! How is it going?

 

I am doing well.   To start off your 20 questions that everybody is asking about Chaitén.. We had cambios Wednesday right? well we didn't leave until Thursday in the morning at 7. We were just hangin out in Pto. Montt. So our bus left at 7 in the morning and we didn't get to Chaitén until about 5-6 in the evening. But it was beautiful the ride. We headed out and were on the ride for about 1 hour or so then we came to the first farry. (I don't know how you spell it..) Then that was about another hour or so. Then we were on the bus for another 2 hours I think.. Then the second farry. That was a 4 hour ride. Then we got off and we were on the bus for like 30 min.-1 hour and had a 3rd farry ride for an hour about. Then the rest was bus. But it was awesome. On the 4 hour farry ride we got off. I took pictures and we just hung out. It is crazy. But it was awesome. So we made it.. Then yesterday for my first day in church.. We had 8 people including us. But it was strange because the weeks before they had like 25. That was the most that had gone before. But I don't know what happened. Last week they had 13. So I was informed wrong haha. But it's all good. I got there and I had to present myself and give like a 15 minute talk haha. But it's all good. I figured that we would be doing something like that. So another fun fact of the day. I am like a Preacher of another religion haha. We live in the church. It is just a little house and We live inside that house. It is separated in 3 parts. 1 part is our house. It's the biggest part. We have an upstairs and downstairs.. (I haven't taken pictures yet sorry.) And then we have the Sacrament room. It's pretty small. Then there is another part that is blocked off. That is were some lady lives. So we actually are probably the only missionaries that live alone with some lady. But her part is blocked off thankfully ha. No she is really nice. But yea that is our church. I'll take pictures soon. Oh and another cool thing about us is that we only go to church for 2 hours. Because we don't have sufficient to break off in Priesthood and Relief Society. So we don't have it. We have Sacrament Meeting and Sunday School. That is it. So that is pretty cool. Haha but we are working to get more members. But that is pretty much what is going on here in Chaitén. It is gorgeous. But we haven't been able to leave to take pictures yet. We were playing some basketball this morning. Just us two. There are only 2 of us here in this little town. 2 missionaries in about a days travel. Haha well by bus. But it's all good. It's fun. Oh and mom just so you know. I didn't get my package. Hopefully they will send it to us. The Zone Leaders should send it to us by bus and we just go pick it up when it arrives. But we will see about that. If not. I should get it at cambios. I think that Elder Villarreal and I will only be together 1 cambio. It is his 4th here and so he won't be with me to kill me then he would die here too. And he would be here for a long time. So when I go to get my new comp in a while I will probably get it if it isn't this cambio. But I hope that it's soon. So yea that is about what has happened. We are going to go buy some stuff soon and maybe take some pics. But don't worry we will be sending some soon. I promise. I have a couple from the 4 hour farry that I am going to send right now. But some from here in Chaitén will be soon also. We are doing well. It has been an adventure so far but it's been good. It's awesome here. I am loving it. I need to be better at writing in my journal though. I write but every once in a while ha. I've been bad and good during my mission. I'll do better I promise.

It is good to hear that everything is well with you guys at home. I'm glad that the Chili's give back went well. Well I hope that it went well. I am glad that everybody is healthy and happy and doing well. Sounds fun that you went to Tucanos. I've been there once. I went with Kory and some of the boys. It was good. I liked it a lot. But yea I hope that you are all doing well. I can't wait to hear from you guys next week. Sorry it's a little short and everything but I hope that it answers all your questions that you guys have. I am doing very well. You don't have to worry about me. Just pray that the volcano doesn't errupt again ;) haha just joking. It won't. It's cool to watch because it smokes and everything. Leaving Beautiful Valdivia

Hey everybody,

 

So here is the news. I am leaving after 6 months here in the sector. So here is what is going down. Where I'm going is a new sector. It has been open for like 4-5 months. It's down in Puerto Montt, so yes in my mission I will have 6 sectors and 3 zones. But it is a place called Chaiten. What happened is there is a brief story. A couple years ago a volcano errupted and it was covered with ash. And now it's good. They had to take everyone out and everything. But now there is a little branch. It consists of about 5 members I've heard. So it will be fun. They now have a Branch President. So that is the good thing. But anyway I heard that we can't really do much contacts or anything. It is just a little place of about a 1000 people in population. So I have to travel to Puerto Montt and from there I take like an 8 hour boat ride. I think. But I'm really excited. I heard that they don't teach much but that we mostly do service. So we will see what happens. I can't wait to see how it is. I am going with an Elder from my group. His name is Elder Villarreal. I think he is from Bolivia. So there is number 3.But we will see what goes down. I'm super stoked. I am also being lowered from District Leader for this job. What I've heard is that President has dropped a lot of Elders to go there. He has dropped like 3 Zone Leaders to go to this sector. So It should be fun and good. I a really excited. I am sad that I am leaving this sector but it is for the best. I've been here forever. So it's all good right? I'll have lots of good experiences where I'm going. I haven't seen pictures or anything so you will have to look. I heard that it is beautiful. I hope that it is. I will probably be there for the next 3 months so hopefully it's not too ugly haha. But I think it will be great. So yea that is what is going on with my cambio. That is probably where I will be dying.

In other news we are doing well. The sector is good. Makarena came to church last week. But she said that after everything that has happened she doesn't want to get baptized. I don't know what happened but we can't force her. I don't know. But also Kena is really close. They will be getting some baptisms soon. I know that they will have success here. It really is a good sector. I love it a lot. I'm going to miss it. I don't know. But whatever. I will be good. I'm super excited for this next cambio to see what happens.

So everybody is doing well. Elder Trujillo got an emergency cambio like I said the last time. He went to Lanco. But he just got called as Assistant so he is in Osorno now. That is really sweet. I'm excited for him. And Elder Trejo was out and about today. He seems to be doing better. that is the good thing. I'm glad that he has been able to get out and walk and get some air a little bit. That is the important and also that he is feeling better. Because he is a good elder.

So F.Y.I. I just got a call from President Rappleye and he told me about this sector. He says that it is very different from all the other sectors. He said that I am going to make friends with the people make sure that they love the missionaries and don't think that we are going to pressure them but we are here to support and love them. So he said that my calling there will be a little different than before. He said that I just need to go and love the people and help them get their houses out of ash and everything. So we are going to see how it goes. I'm really excited now. He explained it and now I'm stoked. So yea..

But anyway we are doing well. It was a good week. We are going to enjoy the last couple days together and then I will be gone. I'm excited.

Dad is so funny. He has always been funny. I'm glad that he had a good birthday and that Adams birthday goes well too. I am glad to hear that everything is going well. Even though you are getting older. Haha no just joking. But anyway just a question.. Have you heard anything from the schools? Just a question.
