"Yea, and that same God did establish his church among them; yea, and that same God hath called me by a holy calling, to preach the word unto this people and hath given me much success, in the which my joy is full." - Alma 29:13

Warmer Weather

Dear family and friends,

I just want to start off talking about the heat!! It has been so so soooo hot these last 3 days. I am probably a little sunburnt but whatever. Stuff happens right? So it has just been super hot. I also have lost 6 kilos. So that is about 13 pounds about. So I am loving that! I have been trying to loss weight. I hate gaining weight. It is horrible. Today we went to the harbor/river and were looking at the Sea Lions. They are HUGE!!! Here are a couple pictures of what we did before my camera died. That's why there aren't more haha but maybe next week. I am going to be in this sector for another 3 months at least. Because I just have an anouncment to make. I am going to be a father!!! I am training and so I have a son!!! I am really excited. It is going to be awesome. President Rappleye called me yesterday in the morning to tell me that I am going to train. So I will be going to Osorno on Wednesday to pick up my son. And I don't know his name or anything. But we will see what happens. The Zone Leaders won't tell me his name. But I'm pretty sure that they know his name. So they are just doing it because they are from my group. Both of them. We are going to be going home together. So they just like messin with me. So I am super excited. I will be training a new Elder these next two cambios.

It has been a good week. Nothing too different has gone on. Pretty much the same old stuff. But Hna. Kena is progressing so much!! She is going to be getting her divorce and then she is getting married with her boyfriend and we will be having a baptism. Just the part about when this is going to happen is the question. But I am really excited!! She has progressed and come a long way. It is so good to have some people who are starting to progress. And we have a lot of investigators who just need to get married and baptized. But they are really close. I am so excited that I am staying. We are growing so much as a ward!! Yesterday we had 72 people in church and it was the Primary Program so it was fun. I liked it.

Yes we heard about the elections. We had a bunch of people who stop and talk to us about everything. One guy told us that they are more "gringo" (as they call us from the United States) than the Mexicans. He said they are always worried about what is going on in the United States. And I found that to be true. They are always watching and just looking and wondering what is going on in the States. So yea we heard that Obama is in office again. What can you do right? I don't know. But only 4 more years right? Haha.

Sorry mom I didn't get to see any of the tulips. I couldn't do it sorry ha. It's probably because I'm in the city and there aren't very many tulip fields. But maybe sometime I will bet some for you. I don't really know. I will try to get some good pictures for you. It just depends on when we do something as a zone. One of my zone leaders doesn't really like doing activities so it's a little more difficult. But I will try.

Well I love you guys tons. I'm glad that you wrote me all who did. It is good hearing from you and getting to listen to what is going on at home. I hope all goes well this week and I'm excited to hear from you next week. I love you guys tons!! Have a fantastic week!!

Letter from Nov. 5, 2012

Hey how is everything going there up in the states? I am doing really well. It has been a good week. Lots of things to do. We are doing well here in Valdivia. It has been a crazy week. I am fine mom my toe doesn't hurt. I got it taken care of for free and we got a video of him taking it out and everything. We are going to take the other part out soon. I don't know when. He wants to staralize the supplys. But it's ok we are doing it soon enough. I am doing really well. Have had a little bit of allergys but other than that I are great. I have had a great week. This week is the last week of the cambios. And everybody tells me that Pres. Rappleye is going to be calling me on Saturday to tell me that i am going to be training this next cambio. So we will see what happens. As of right now we don't know anything so I am ok. I don't know how much I want to train hahaha. So much responasablity with DL and training a new missionary. But we will see what happens. I don't know. I'll do whatever I am asked to do. But yea we will see.
We don't really have any investigators who are really progressing to be baptized. We have a couple. There are 2 who know that this message and church are true but have to get divorced and married with their partner who they live with. So that is a little more difficult. And we are teaching a members daughter. The member was baptized like 6 months ago or so and his daughter is a Jehovas Witness. So we are teaching her and she is actually so so so so close to being baptized. She is a good girl and always comes to church and goes to seminary and everything. She is more of a mormon than a lot of other people that I have met on my mission. I don't get why she hasn't been baptized yet. She participates in everything!!! Seminary and everything. But she is close I can feel it. Her name is makarena.
Today we aren't doing anything really really really special. I think we are going to go bowling again and so that will be fun. I love bowling. It remindes me of 2 dollar Tuesday in Ben Lomand Lanes!! i love that night. But yea and after that I think we are going to go to the mall.I am trying to find a Chile soccer jersey. So we are going to go hang out there and i need to buy new pants. My work pants are horrible and have holes in them so I need to replace them. They are not good. I have to wear basketball shorts underneath them because they are so bad. But you know what happens when you are just working. So I will be finding some new pants soon. Don't worry about me. Other than that we might go to the River Calle-Calle to hang out on the dock and take some pictures. So we are excited for today. We don't have anything to do so we are just going to hang out a little bit.
Mom I am glad that you are just getting a bunch of upgrades now.. Haha cuz you didn't want to do it when I was home!! But what kind of smart phone do you have mom? I am so excited for Brady!! Send my love to him. Bolivia?! Well that kinda sucks haha no just kidding. That's awesome. What part is he going to? But tell the kid I love him to death! When does he leave?
I am doing really well and I am glad that you are all well and busy. I love hearing about your week and about your life and what is going on in your homes. Thank you so much for your support and love that you all have for me. I can feel it everyday and so much in your prayers and when you are thinking about me. I am so grateful to have friends and family like you on my side and in my favor to cheer me on. I can't wait to hear from you guys soon. I hope all goes well this week and that everything happens in your favor. I love you guys so much. I hope that you all know that. I am glad that every single one of you have influenced my life. Before my mission and during my mission and especially now with your support and love. Thank you so much. Have a great week!!!

Hello from Valdivia

My Greenie Companion, Elder Abarca

My Awesome Cousin, Elder Zach Jensen from San Diego

Dear family and friends!!!

How is everything this mighty fine day?! I am fine. Just trying to get everything done for my second VISA.... That isn't good. That means that I have a bunch of time in the mission... So I am going through a huge huge HUGE process to take it out. And the process isn't very fun. But I have to do it unless I want to get thrown out of the country. And that isn't what I want. But we have had a good day today. We have been a little busy. Today is pretty much a holiday and so everything is closed and it's going to be a little difficult to get everything done but whatever. I am pretty excited to just get it done. I have had to do so many things.A lot of running around to do. But whatever I can do it.

So these are pictures from last week. We went on a hike. I have a picture of me, 2 with my companion Elder Abarca and one with my cous Elder Jensen. That was a fun day. We ate in the hills and everthing. So it was fun.

We are doing well. We are working a lot and we found a couple of people this last week. We haven't had too much luck with finding but we are working on it. We have a couple people who are here and they are just awesome. We have three people who know the church is restored and they can't really do anything about it because they have to get divorced and then get married again because they are living with their partner. That happens a lot here in Chile. They just live together and never get married. But we are working on that. And they want to do it. It's just the process that they have to do. So that is what we are working with right now. And we are also working and teaching a JW!!! Can you believe that. How sweet is that. She is going to be getting baptized soon. I know she is. So we are excited about that.

So yes mom I am in the city of Valdivia. I have a little sector here. It is big. I'm from the stake Calle-Calle. There are 2 stakes. The other stake is Valdivia. And so I'm in the zone Calle-Calle. And we have 14 missionaries. I think we are one of the smaller zones in the mission. And all Elders. They say it too dangerous to have sisters here. Fun right?? Haha. But Futrono is part of my zone so I still see Elder Burgos every Tuesday. So that is sweet.

Mom I don't know what I want for Christmas. I could care less what it is :) Haha sorry that that isn't any help... But for my birthday. I don't want anything. You can just save it for when I get home if you want. I don't want you to send something then I'm going to have to pack it up to bring it home.. But yea haha. For Christmas whatever you want to send me :) I would love.

That story about the Missionaries in Ogden is awesome!! About all the interviews to go on missions. I hope that they all leave. that would be super sweet!! I am excited to see what happens with that.

Hey make sure to tell Addie hi for me mom. She hasn't writin me for a while. Like since the MTC I think haha. But whatever.

I am so greatful for the plan that God has for us. I hope that all is well with you guys. I'm sorry it's so short but I hope that you have a good week. I am praying for you and for your well being. I hope all is wel. I love you tons!!!

Dear family and friends,
I recieved a phone call on Saturday.. It was President Rappleye calling me... With much sadness as I tell you this right now. After 1 cambio (6 weeks) I am leaving Futrono. I am staying in the same zone of Calle-Calle. But I am going to a zone that is called Martina de Rosas. I am going and becoming District Leader. I am so nervous and I just don't want to let down anybody. President, the missionaries and especially the Lord. But I am sad because I don't want to leave Futrono. I love it here so much. I wanted to stay for more time. But I must go and do as the Lord has commanded. In my district I am going to have my sector, another sector and the Zone Leaders. (Talk about pressure) The good thing is, the zone leaders are both from my group. So I know them. Or to say we entered in the MTC and came to Chile together. So I don't think it is going to be too bad but I'm scared. I know the Lord is going to help me and has called me to do it, But still there is that little nagging feeling that is always there. I just don't want to disapoint anybody. But I will go and do. That is pretty much what has happened my last week. I have found that news out. But we have had a good week. We had intercambios and my District Leader right now came out to Futrono with me (probably because they thought that I was going to be staying here and training or something.) So he came here and loved it. I also love it here. I can't believe I was here for the least amount of time possible. But what can you do right? But I am ok. These last two days are going to be awesome. I will still see Elder Burgos every Tuesday in the District Meeting so that will be good. But I don't want to leave the members or our investigators. We have found so many good people. We found a family to teach!! And they are amazing they love when we come by and everything and the kids love it too. So it is hard to leave. We have a couple people who are starting to progress. But my time has come to an end here. We have had a good week. One of our investigators knows that the church was restored but is a little scared to take the initiative to get baptized. We are helping her with that and also her daughter who is a member.
We have had a good week other than those things. It has been a good last week.. But you know I know there will be other blessings for me waiting in my other sector. I heard lots of good things about my next sector and I also heard that it's a training sector. So Elder Burgos told me I'm going to go for 1 cambio then I am going to be training also. So we will just see about that. He said that I'm going to train a kid from Utah. We will just see about his "Prophecy" as he calls it.. Haha he is a funny Elder. I was glad that I was with a Chilean for their Independence Day that was fun. Even though we couldn't do anything.... That was the only lame part. He told me that he doesn't want me to leave. We thought we were going to be another cambio together but we will see eachother still. So that is the good thing.
We were talking to a member this last week. And they were talking to an Evangelist. They starting talking about the missionaries or us practically. And you wanna know what they said?? They told our member that we worship the devil and that we are anti-christs. Funny right? I can't believe that they would say stuff like that. They claim to be these great Christians and yet they just talk crap on the other people haha. But oh well they are only hurting themselves for that. I heard a story. It was from an elder and it was a story of his teacher in the MTC. His teacher was serving I don't remember where. And his companion was from South Africa. They contacted a guy and he invited them to his church so they were like "ok cool lets go." So they went. And in that time the Evangelists starting talking in their "tongues." The missionary from South Africa all of a sudden just got scared, went white and everything. He said to his companion, " We need to go now.." and so his companion said "why? We are just watching it's ok." So he said "No we need to go now.. I'll explain outside." So they went outside and he told his companion, "Elder, when they started talking in tongues, they were talking in my native language (South African) and they were worshiping the devil."
Crazy the story right? Sorry I just had to tell it. But yea that really happened. Really crazy..
Well anyway I love you guys tons!! I hope that your week goes well this week and you all have a good week. I will be talking to you the next week in a different sector. Say goodbye to Futrono.. Hopefully one day I can come back here.. I love you guys tons. I know that I'm leaving but because the Lord needs me somewhere else with a little more responsability. I love you so much!!

Love,
un abrazo

A Year in Chile

Hey how is everything going?! Wow so it was really cool to see my email today!!! I had 10 people write me!! That was a first ;) haha but thank you everybody for your letters. I am so gratefull for all of them!! Alan and Amanda, Scott and Kourt, Mel, Steph!, Mi papá(Seth Richan), Elder Barker, Mi compañero Elder Rojas en el norte en Valdivia, and of course you mom and dad :) Thank you all for your letters. I am so glad that you have all thought about me. I am doing fantastic. Today we had a good day. We played some basketball and we went to the cemetery here in Punta Arenas. It is HUGE!! There are so many people here and they are all rich and they have huge places where the bodies are at. I'm sorry I forgot how to say that in english. But whatever no big deal. I am doing great here. We have had a good day. Just loving every minute here in the very very very south of the world. I love it so much. I is weird to think that in a week and a half is when I got to Punta Arenas 9 months ago..... So that answers your question mom. Haha I'm pretty positive that I'm going up north. I have 9 months in this zone. That is most my mission. But it's ok. I love it here. So whatever. I have the most time in Punta Arenas than all the missionaries. So yes I'm pretty sure I'm going to the north. But it's all good. I've had so much time here. But I am having such a good time. We are finding more people. We are teaching a guy who we found for teaching english. He wants to learn. He came to church with us and said that he felt something and so we are going to teach him today. But we are super excited with him. He is awesome. His name is Edwardo. But yea he is pretty golden. All our other investigators we still have to find them. We don't know exactly where they are at. But it's all good. They will turn up. We have people who know that it is the true. Just the problem is finding them. But we will do it. I promise.

Mom make sure you send my love to everybody who is there. I feel so much support from the ward. And the Ballifs sent me a postcard. I just need to get on writting them back. But I did get it. If you could tell them that and that I am working on writting back. That would be great thanks. I love everyone there.

So weird to think that on Wednesday I completed 1 year in Chile. I feel so old. It's not even funny. But you know what can you do. It just goes by faster. That´s what President Rappleye told me. When we had the interview he said so you´ve hit your 1 year mark. Don't worry the 2nd year goes by faster... Haha but whatever. It is nuts to think that a year ago I was with Elder Richan and I had no idea about anything in spanish and I just wanted to speak english with everyone. I still have a little note in my scriptures I don't know if you still remember that Seth. It was a note of encouragment. Yes I still have it in my scriptures. I still look at it sometimes too. So thank you for all your support and everything you did for me and continue to do.

Mom I will try to meet up with Elder Jenson. I was hoping to train him but I don't think that is going to happen because I will be leaving the sector so I would have to open a sector and train. And I don't think that is going to happen. I will know next week what happens with everything. So I will let you know. But as for now I will try to meet up with him.

Well I love you guys so much. I'm glad to hear that your all so busy. And I'm glad that I heard from all of you. I hope all is well. I love you guys tons and I know that I'm hear for a reason and that I am being blessed. Especially by my Beloved sister Natalie who passed away 2 years ago tomorrow the 14th. I love her and all of you guys. Thanks for your support and I know that the plan of happiness is true and it is to protect us. Thanks for everything. I love you guys so so much. Love you!!!

FRYSAUCE in Chile????

Chilean FRYSAUCE!!!  MMMM

Hey fam how is everything going for you guys? I am doing really well. We did have a baptizm in fact on saturday. It was such a good experience!! I enjoyed it a lot. So there are a couple of pictures on here. To start off is when we went to lunch with our member. Hno. Villegas. He is awesome. He made all of that. So we just took pictures of making the food. But he is really awesome. He made FRYSAUCE!!!!! So I had to take a picture of it. His frysauce is a little different. He puts ají or just like a little bit of pepper so it's a little more spicy. But it's super awesome and delicious. I love it!! And then of my baptizm. Carlos did ask me to baptize him so I had the privilge to do it. It was super awesome. He is a good kid. But yea that is about it for the baptizm. All went well. And he is good. Other than that we had a good week. It snowed then froze so it's been super slippery. But fun to walk around in all day if you know what I mean. The chance of falling a lot because our shoes are that great for the snow and stuff like that. But I have a really great story. It's awesome. First off I'm really sore. Like on my backside... If you get the hint haha. But yea we were walking home from lunch yesterday with the members. On Sunday after church. We had to walk down a hill to get to our house and so we were walking carefully because it was really really really slippery. So all of a sudden we hear behind us two dogs fighting. So we turn around and I just stare helplessly as two huge German Sheperds are running towards us fighting and biting each other. So they are on ice and I'm on ice and they couldn't stop. So I couldn't move either. I just watched as they came towards me in slow motion and took my legs our completley and I fall to the ground. Hahaha so some people saw and asked me if they bit me but no they didn't so that is the good thing. But it was just super funny. I haven't been hit like that since football. That was a long time ago. So yea it hurt a little to walk especially. But yea fun stuff. That was my exciting news for the day. But other than that the week went well and I enjoyed it.

Sounds like your week went really well and you had a great time. I hope that it continues to go well for you and that you have a great week. Especially in camp. And everything. I love camping. But yea I'm also glad that your time together for the anniversary went well. Oh and mom I have gotten one letter from you in the mail. But I haven't recieved mail yet this week so I bet there is something there for me to read. Hopefully. Because pretty much no body else writes me hahaha. But whatever. I'm fine. Oh and hey mom the money isn't an issue to go to see penguins. The issue is if they aren't here. Because if they are we will go as a zone. But I heard that they aren't and I've heard that they are. So I don't know if it's just the migrating time. I don't know. And also it is so crazy to think that I am the missionary with the most time of 13 missionaries!!! So crazy. I don't even want to think about that but whatever. Well I love you guys tons!! I hope that everything goes well with you guys this week. I love you so much!!Have a great week.

Another Baptism on it's way

Hey fam.

Hey how is everything going? I am fine. Working super hard. We are going to have a baptizm this saturday. For Carlos. He says that he knows that it is true and that he is really excited. He says that everytime he enters into the church that he feels peace and forgets all his problems that he has. So he has a really great experience with everything he is doing and he is just super excited for his baptizm. He has been up in the north but he comes back today so we are going to meet with him and teach him a couple things and then hopefully he is going to be having an interview really soon. Hopefully. It all depends in his time that he has. Especially because he is in the marines. But he is such a great guy. I love him to death. He is getting back today and we are going to meet with him and teach him. So we are excited. Other than that we have Enrique and he has a date for the 16th of August and so we are working with him still. After my whole time trying to find him. He knows that it is true and knows he is going to get baptized but just doesn't know when. But we are working with him and everything and he is just awesome. But today we didn't do anything. I don't have any money. We didn't recieve money like we were supposed to today. Probably tomorrow. But it is super fun. It's just that everything here in Punta Arenas is super expensive. But I love this city. At the end of this cambio I will complete 9 months in the zone. I think that after this cambio I am going to the north. So we will see. You never know. But my companion is named Elder Noguera. I don't remember his first name I think Raul? I don't know. He is a computer guy. He is from Bolivia. Another one right? haha but he is ok. I heard a lot of things that were bad but he isn't too bad. It's ok. We are doing well right now. We will see what happens after right. After a little bit of time. But yea other than that nothing new has happened. Just my new companion and Carlos and Enrique. But we are doing well. We will see what happens with Carlos. I'm hoping that he chooses Hno. Ayancan to baptize him or the Bishop. I'm hoping he chooses a member but I don't know exactly what's going to go down with that. We will see.

So you have all been super busy. I love that water park in Ceder. If it's the one that I'm thinking of. I've been to one that was down there. So yea I think I know. It was awesome. I'm glad that you got into the pool and had a good time with the kids and everything. I hope that your little mini trip went well. That is super awesome. I miss trips. But I will have a lifetime of them after my mission. I was talking to Elder Barker today because he is in charge of Finances. He was talking about when we were together a year ago in the MTC and how nuts it was. So we were just talking about the old times in the MTC. It was pretty good just to talk and think about all those times. We are doing awesome. Just weird to think about that the Hermanas from our group are about to die. Oh well they are about to finish their missions. In 5 months. I was talking about that with Elder Barker. They will be going home in like 3 cambios. Those are 6 weeks every cambio. They have 5 months left. It's so crazy. I can't even think about that. But yea I'm super awesome. Well I love you guys tons. Sorry I don't have too much time left. But when I talk to you guys the next time. I will have pictures of a baptizm. I'm super excited for Carlos. I love you guys tons. Have such a great week. I hope all is well and that your week this week goes well also. I love you all a ton. Have a good week and be safe.

Baptising in Punta Arenas

Hey how is everything going?! I'm doing super well. Having a great time here. And it has been pretty cold but it's been good and Just a lot of wind here but it's alright I love it. I'm doing well. So we have had an alright week but it's been good. We gave the Priesthood to Nicolas yesterday and he chose me to ordain him. So that was a pretty neat experience!! It was awesome. So how is everything going with you guys in home? I've been really good. This is the last week of the cambio and so we are getting close to one of us leaving but everybody thinks that Elder Rojas is going to be leaving. So we are sure yet. Either one of us can leave. He has more time in the sector but I have more time in the Zone of Punta Arenas. So we aren't sure yet. We will see but that is going to be awesome. I think he is going to leave and he just won't accept it. But he will when they call to tell us. But yea so once again I am running short on time. So sorry that I won't be writing back everybody. But today we didn't do anything. We got together and watched Joseph Smith: Prophet of the Restauration. So that was fun and good. It was good to meet up with the other missionaries and just chill. We are going to see Fabiola's house after this and hang out with them for a little while. So that is going to be good. They are such an awesome family. Such a good family. But I have been having a good experience and everything I'm loving it here. But I love you guys!! I'm so sorry that it has been so short again... Kinda crappy but you know what can you do? I just feel bad because it was one paragraph. But I love you guys tons. Thanks for everything!!! I will write back a little bit to Mel, Tally, Diek, and Papa Richan next week ;) Love you all thanks so much for everything. Hopefully the pictures are good for you guys!!!

Check out my beautiful new Scripture covers

So as you can tell I finally recieved my scripture cases!! I'm super excited!! And also that we had a family home evening with Irene. So that is very exciting. Very very exciting. And I have great news!! But I will get to that. Don't worry. But the book with the Temple and Captain Moroni is my Book of Mormon. And with Jesus Christ my Bible. So I'm very excited for those. But anyway so my exciting news. I am pretty sure that I told you about Fabiola and Nicolas. They just came from our Zone Leaders ward and they had a baptismal date for this saturday as well. Well they are still getting baptized. So we have 3 baptizms this saturday!! Not just one!!!!!!!! And also we were talking with her yesterday. Fabiola is the mom (41) and Nicolas is her son (13). She has 3 other kids but 2 don't want anything for now and Lucia is 1. So they are getting baptized and they told us yesterday that Elder Rojas is going to baptize Fabiola and I am going to baptize Nicolas! So that is also very exciting. We have been very excited and happy. So that is our exciting news for this week. We are super excited!!! But that is about it for this week. Sorry that those two details about my cases and the baptizms are about the only exciting thing. Haha kinda lame. But oh well.

So yes I am pretty sure that the next Monday we are going to go on a trip as a zone. I don't know where we are going yet but we are going to eat with the Zone Leaders and so I am going to ask today. I'm excited. The only thing is that if we go we have to pay with personal money for the trip. But whatever right ;) hahaha. So I'm excited for that also. We aren't doing anything today but we are just going to relax and I'm going to write some letters. Oh and by the way Scott and Kourt I did send you a letter last week. Sorry if you feel like I've been egnoring your letters but it was just from being lazy. I didn't write anybody back for a while and the letter explains it so just wait til you get it. But I did send it last week. But I don't have a clue if we will see penguins or not mom. Sorry haha. But yea so his name is Elder Crane. He played LaX and Rugby for Utah State. So he asked me what I was going to do after the mission and I said that I was thinking about going to Utah State so he told me that I should. But I honestly don't have a clue what I'm going to be doing. But he is awesome. I love him to death. He told me to come up and meet up with him. He is awesome.

So yes it's getting colder but not too cold yet. Another month and everybody thinks that I'm staying because Elder Rojas has more time here so I will be getting the worst of it I think. But we are sure yet. Anything is possible. So awesome to hear about all the missionaries. Send my love to Amos. He is a good kid. I hope everything is good with him. And Norm too. I'm glad that he got to see his brother before he leaves for 2 more years haha. So that's good. Sounds like you guys are busy with the garden, yard, and with the youth of the ward. I'm glad that everything is going well with you guys and that all is well. I hope that everything continues for you.

I love you guys tons. I'm doing great!! And having a good time. I'm loving the sector and enjoying Punta Arenas. I love being here.

Elder Tyler Jolley

(a basic translation of his testimony:
But this time I am going to give my testimony at Spanish. Because the last time I did in English. But I know that the Church is true and through Joseph Smith, the Church was restored. We have a Prophet in our lives to guide and help in everything that we need to do in our lives and the Church. I know that I am in a place by revelation and that we are the true Church. I know that the book of Mormon is true and similar to the Bible. The two teach the truth together. Not just a book. But I want to much!!! They have a good week and we hear next Monday.

Happy in Punta Arenas

Happiness from Punta Arenas

Hey how is everything going?!

All is well with me. We have had a good week. Still just preparing Irene to get baptized the 23rd. And we had a little surprise. From our Zone Leaders!!! They have 2 investigators that are just amazing!! And they also have baptizmal date for the 23rd of this month. The same day as Irene. And these two investigators just moved into our ward!! And so we are going to have 3 baptizms that day!!! We are super excited!! So we met them last night. Fabiola is widowed and her son that is 13 Nicolas are going to get baptized. So we are super excited!! But we have had a great week. Just working hard to get these 3 people now baptized. That is whats going on right now. But we are fine. Had a good week. Oh and by the way his name is Elder Jorge Rojas. That is my companion. From Peru. I think his city is called Iquitos. It's next to the Amazon River. In the jungle. So it's funny. He is a good guy. He is 26 years old. He almost couldn't leave on his mission because of his age. But he is here. So that's all that matters. We have had a good week. Just the normal. Those 3 are our main investigators now. So we are excited.

P.S. the picture of me sweeping the snow. That's a chilean thing. They also wash their cars with brooms. It's weird right? But I'm a Chilean and so I had to do it.

So in 2 weeks we are going to leave to visit a place here in Punta Arenas as a zone. So in two weeks or three don't worry you'll definitely have pictures. And we are going to buy a shirt for the zone with all of our names on the back of it. So I'm excited to get that also. That is going to be awesome. But I love Punta Arenas. It's amazing here. I love the work and the people. Right now it isn't too cold. We are getting ready to go and play some soccer. So that is going to be fun. I'm pretty excited for that. This week has been kinda boring. I don't know what else to say. Except that I hit my 1 year mark. Wow not even funny how fast the time goes by. It's been so fast. And it is going to be even faster now. I know it will. That's always what I hear. It goes by faster. But come what may. I am doing fine. I haven't been suffering too much haha from the weather. I heard that the winter is going to be brutal here this year. In the past it's been calming down but I heard that this year is going to be bad. So I'm preparing myself now. But whatever I love it I'll do whatever I'm asked. But seriously the time does come around fast. It does feel like it's monday a lot. Like it's monday then the next day it's monday again. But whatever. I don't know. But wow mom that is so awesome about you and dad! Changin up the look with the hair and eveything!! That is awesome!! And visiting the world haha.

I'm glad that you guys are doing great!! With the family reunion and everything the reception. Send my congadulations to her and her family. To Sydney. That is cool. Good for her. But here in Punta Arenas I love being able to be with the other missionaries. Actually my Zone Leader, well one of them, is named Elder Crane. He is from Logan Utah and I love him to death. I found out an interesting fact from him. He went to Logan High and played Rugby and Lacrosse. I PLAYED AGAINST HIM!!!! And I didn't even know him. And worst of all he went to Logan. Remember their fans and parents and just dirty players? I hate Logan High haha. I told him that when I found out he went to Logan. I said "You played for Logan? I'm sorry." Haha it was funny. But he is awesome. Good kid. The food is great. There are a lot of stuff that we eat. But nothing like too bad. We eat a lot of potatoes and bread and everything. A lot of soup and meat also. But I haven't eaten any horse or anything weird yet. It's all been pretty normal. Thankfully haha. But if something comes my way I'll let you know what I've eaten. Our mamita is awesome. She is a wonderful lady who is a little sick and her kids are just lazy and don't do anything. But she is awesome. I will get her recept for empenadas from her. She has been looking at your recepts and I think she is going to cook something. Hopefully. But she makes empenada of meat, cheese and apple. I haven't tried the apple. But I love the meat and I love the cheese. I think I love the cheese empenada more. But I don't know they are both amazing. So we will see what happens.

Well I think that is about it for right now. Oh yea the Zone Conference. It was good. We had President Rappleye and Elder Corbrige down here with their wives. So that was awesome. That was my second time meeting Elder Corbrige. He is a good guy also. But yea I know that what I'm doing is the right thing to do. I am helping so many people in their lives and I love them all. But I love the Gospel and everything. I love all of you too. I hope everything is going well. I love you tons!!

Love,

Elder Tyler Jolley

Hey from More Snow

Hey hope everything is going well for you guys! I am doing well. We have more snow of course. It was like a blizzard this morning!! But it was awesome. I loved it!! So just a couple things. In my next package that you send would you be able to send a couple things. Like my hoodie and sweatpants from LaX? That have my name and the logo and number? And also if you know where my shorts are at my red LaX shorts? That would be awesome :) Haha but anyway wow you guys are busy. I'm going to start out by answering questions first this week. And comments of course. But Wow congradulate Sydney for me. Friday is my year mark also that is awesome. I did know that Elder Abel went to the office. I was talking to him on Wednesday. He told me everyting. And I'm glad that you sent a message to Seth. That makes me feel better. Because I think that he had the wrong address but I have no idea. Maybe not but whatever. I just would like to hear from him. But yea whatever. I hope that all is well for him and he found a job and stuff. But yea I am doing very well. I'm glad that you guys have been busy. That helps but seriously Brookie turns 4?! That is nuts!! I thought she was turning like 3 maybe haha. She is too big. That is crazy!! But that is fun. She is a cute little girl. Just like all my nieces and nephews just amazing. I am still reading the D. & C. but I'm really slow also that's the bad part. I don't know. I read in section 106 today about the Camp of Zion. So I am slow but still reading. There have been days when I couldn't read in the D & C but I am still going. And the cd I haven't been able to listen to it yet... :( Because I don't want to listen to it because my companion can't understand it so he would just be sitting there and thats kinda mean haha. So no I haven't had the time to listen. But I will get the chance. Don't worry. And don't worry about the anniversary box haha I'm perfectly fine. But wow how the time goes by. It is crazy how fast. I don't even know. It's nuts. 1 year. I can't believe it. I am loving Punta Arenas. I think that I will be staying here and Elder Rojas will be leaving after this cambio but I have no idea because I have more time in Punta Arenas but he has more time in the sector. But I figured that if I leave it would be alright. I want to stay but if I leave and go to another sector that gives me 1 cambio to learn the sector to train Zach? I think that's his name you told me haha. But the son of your cousin mom. That would be pretty awesome so that would be a plus to leave the sector so early. But if not I would love to stay here in Punta Arenas. But we will see what happens. Right? I'll do whatever I need to do.

So now I will talk about Irene.. She has a date for the 23rd of this month. Of June. Her son is the 2nd councelor in the Bishopric of another ward here. He is going to baptize her. She didn't tell him that she was meeting with us or anything. It has been a dream of his forever to have his mother baptized. So she invited him over to lunch Saturday and told him that she had wonderful news. They couldn't guess what it was. Because they had no clue. But she said that she was getting baptized the 23rd and that he was going to baptize her. He told us that it was like a brick wall hit them. They didn't even suspect it and that his daughter that is 14 or 15 was crying and that he pretty much fell on his back and the news of it. So he came to church with us yesterday and he was so happy. He bore his testimony and Irene was crying and everything. It was so awesome! She has met with missionaries for so long and now his dream is coming true. And she is preparing and everything. She is super happy. And so are we and her son. So that is her story for now. She is finally going to join her family. We are excited. But she is well.

That is pretty much what is going on down here. We are really well and working hard to find more people. We have others but nobody with a date yet. But we are still working. President Rappleye came down here with President Corbridge for a Zone Conference on Saturday. So that was really cool also. I loved it. It was awesome. But I love you guys so much. Sorry nothing else has really happened. But I love you guys tons!! Hope everything is well. I know that I'm here for a reason! To help people like Irene. And we are awesome. I love it here. Love you guys tons!! Hope everything is amazing for you as well.

Love you,

Elder Tyler Jolley

Finally, Snow

Hey how is everything Going?! I'm doing fantastic!! We have had a good day. It is snowing!! Well was snowing. Right now it isn't. But we have had a good day. It didn't really snow too much. But it will come. So the thing is this is the last full week of the cambios. Wow right?? So fast goes the time. I don't even know where it goes! I will have a year in the next cambio and probably a new comp. And Elder Rojas thinks that I will be training also. So I don't know what to think about that. We will see right?? If so awesome. I will love it. I am ready. I think I could have done it a while ago. But I will do whatever the Lord asks of me right? But how is everything going for you guys?? I have had a good week. Just been getting a little bit colder and we are still working. But we have been teaching a lot more. So that is a good sign. We don't really have anybody that is getting ready to be baptized... Yet. But our investigators are getting closer. They are awesome. We have some great people that we are teaching. So that is really good. But the weeks and the days go by so so super fast. I can't even believe it. But yea we are doing great. Just following the work and doing what we need to do. We are being blessed from the Lord and he is helping us to have lessons. So that is super good. I am loving it. And I don't even know where the time went. Seriously it crazy. I don't even wanna think about it right now.

But anyway I'm glad that you guys have had a good time in North Dakota. And also hope everything will go good in Yellowstone. But you guys have been super busy. I am glad that you've had a great time and that the kids have enjoyed it also. I miss all the kids. But the box was amazing!! I'm eating the M&M's right now!! I love them!! I loved all the chocolate! And of course the shoes thank you so much. I like the look more also. I don't know how they work yet. I have been using my boots because the rain and the snow. And so yea I'm going to let you know about that later. Because I wouldn't know. But I am doing really good. It's not too cold. Because I'm used to the snow. The only thing that is killer is the wind. It is super bad. It has been bad. But I haven't seen anything yet. That's the thing. It is going to get a whole lot worse. But I'm ready and excited. It is awesome here.

But yea that is pretty much what is going on with me. Just working and hanging out. But it is really awesome. For real. I love being here in the south!! I never thought that I would be in the south of the world!! But it is a great experience!! It's gorgeous here. I hope that everything is going well for you guys!! And that you are having a good week and have fun in work and school and stuff!! I love all you guys and I hope the best for you. I can't wait to hear from you guys. I love hearing from you and seeing your pictures!! I hope all is well! I love you guys so much!!

With Papito, Mamita and Paula

Some of our members

Hey how is everything going?!

Hey so I haven't done anything this day yet. We have been home and cooked food. And guess what I ate? My companion said it was Llama. But I don't know he said it was a different word but when I asked what it was he said it was Llama. But I believe him. But whatever. I also ate a little chicken liver in Natales. But the consistency was pretty gross that is the only problem. But today was good. Just the meat was pretty hard. But good. It has been a good week. Sorry for the pictures. They are good. But it's from when I left. But there are members. Papito is crazy so sorry about him. Haha. But yea I hope that they are good. And the picture of the zone. That is the best one that I got. Whoever took the picture didn't check before they pushed the button but whatever. But we have had a good week. I'm super excited to be here. The investigators that we have. (Which I haven't met all) But Elder Rojas told me that most of them know that the Book of Mormon is true and that we have a lot that want to get baptized. So that is what we are working with. I'm super excited!! I know that we are going to get some baptizms here. I love Punta Arenas. It has been a little cold but not too much. It started warming up a little bit. But it was a little cold. Elder Rojas didn't know how I did it, because he is from Peru. So it is very warm there. He isn't used to the cold. But I'm good with it. So I'm his "Mom" because I'm his 2nd companion. So right after his "Dad". Elder Abel told me that that is the system that President is using (well without our terms) but he said that after you are somebodys "Mom" that you are going to train and be the "Dad" so he thinks that after my time here with Elder Rojas that I'm going to train here. So we will see what happens with that. I don't know how I feel about that. But we will see. I'll do whatever.

But anyway we are doing great here. I don't know of anything that has been really excited to tell you guys. But we had a good week and we taught a lot actually. We had like 12 other lessons and 2 with member present. But we want the member lessons. Speaking of that wow Kris that is awesome!! You should keep helping the sisters out. I can't even describe the importance of members in the lessons. I never knew before but they are super important and help out a lot. I wish more left with us here and I know that we will get more and have more success with them. But I'm glad you went even though it was very nerve racking!!

So we have a total of like 16 missionaries here in Punta Arenas I think. 4 are sisters. But we have a lot. 4 are also in Puerto Natales and Por Venir. So we have a lot in the zone.

Wow everybody has been so busy. I have been too. I don't think you guys need to worry about not writting me. Just keep working hard for your family that is the important thing. I'm glad that Natty's Wish went well and I hope that the next 2 events go well also!! That would be awesome! And that everybody has a new job pretty much now! That is cool though. Super awesome. And that everybody is taking vacations now. Whats up with that? Just because I'm gone huh? You think that you can just go where ever you all want to. Haha but whatever I'm in PUNTA ARENAS!!! Haha take that.

Well I hope all is good!! I love you guys tons! I'm learning a lot with a latin so it's going great but yea I'm doing awesome! Don't worry about me. :) I know that what I'm doing is what God wants of me and that he is happy I'm here and blessing all of you. I know he will continue to bless you and he loves all of us. The church is true and we have a prophet. Well I love you guys. Have a great week.

Love,

Elder Tyler Jolley

Transfers

Hey everybody!!

Hey I'm doing great. Ok so just to get over the suspense. (If that is how you spell it) I am going to Punta Arenas for a couple cambios probably. I am going to the Magallanes Ward. I don't know exactly what sector that is. It is called Magallanes but I don't know what sectors or like how many blocks, big or small or anything. I don't know. I am going with Elder Rojas. I think he is from Peru. So yes I get to have another latin. So it's awesome I'm pretty excited. So yes I am going there tomorrow in the morning at like 7 in the morning is when our bus is leaving. So I have been packing like a couple hours today. I will continue in the night. I am pretty excited. I'm pretty sad that I am leaving but you know what can you do? I love the members here but oh well. So yea I am definitely out. I have a couple pictures but my camera isn't really working with the computer right now so I will have to send them later. They are just of some members when I said goodbye to them. So nothing too exciting.

It has been a great week. We had our Branch Conference and it was a huge success!! We had 38 people there. Haha sounds lame right? But when all that I've had my whole time here in Natales was 20ish. Then it is awesome. But we had a lot of lessons this last week. We taught over 20 but most where less actives to get them to come to the conference but it was really awesome. I loved it. We had a definite miracle. Something as stupid as the rain. I had a bad attitude to go out and knock doors saturday morning because it was raining and I just didn't really wanna knock. But it was raining hard also. And Elder Abel was just praying that it would stop. So like 5 minutes before we left after study it stoped raining. And we definitely didn't get rained on. Well it sprinkeled and went away again. But then we went to lunch at mamitas and it just poured again. So we were just praying again and it stopped and we went home. So after that we went to the church for an activity for the conference and it just started pouring again. So when we had to leave it stopped again and we went to our appointments and lessons and we weren't in the rain one time!! Awesome right?! It was way awesome. I loved it and I had a little better attitude after that. Haha. But yea that was a good day.

I'm glad that everything has gone well for you guys. With the skits. Everybodies vacation and school and wrestling and everything. Work. Speaking of which I want to know what Mel and Tally's new business is! And I hope everything goes great with the 5k and the Chili's give back night!! I love that because Chili's is delicious and I haven't had it forever. So wait I'm really almost the missionay who has been out the longest in the ward?? That's nuts. But yea the time is going by so fast for me. It's not even funny. It feels like Elder Abel just got out here with me. Crazy. But yea I almost have a year. Just 2 more months. Nuts right?

Well sorry I don't have a lot of time. I have been a little busy and doing other stuff with trying to put pictures on and writing Pres. Rappleye. But I hope that everything is going well for you guys!! I hope all is going well with everybody!!

Elder Tyler Jolley

First Snowfall

Gotta Love the Shoes
 First Snowfall of the Winter

Hey!

Sorry there are only two pictures. We haven't really had time to take pictures of anything else. But I hope they will be ok. It's our first snowfall that I have had in the mission.. Well in my sector it is the first snowfall that I have had here and in Muermos. So I had to take a picture. That was right before we went to Punta Arenas. We had a great time down there. The Zone Conference was pretty awesome. It was good to get out of here for a little bit actually. I like when we get to go down there just because some times it gets a little lonely up here. But oh well we survive. We are awesome. But I am just hanging out today. Like we haven't done anything too awesome. But we have been sitting in the house and we are trying to see if we can get the chance to go to Las Torres del Payne. But I'm not exactly sure that we will be able to go so that is the bad part... Because your right cambios are really soon. Like in a week and a half on the 18th and I don't think I am going to be staying here too much longer. I actually think I might be heading out after this week. So does everybody else. Like I hope I don't because Natales is awesome. But also I kinda want to because I like being in the loop. Like we never get mail. They were going to send it to us today through the bus but they think that I'm leaving and so they think that we are coming into Punta Arenas again the next week. So they are sending us anything. So we just get to wait for another week. Even though I'm pretty sure they said we have a lot of stuff and that we might even have a package or two. But whatever I don't know. Of speaking of packages. I have a question. Would it be posible for you to be able to send whenever you send the photo album to send a cd from like Trumen G. Madsen, I think it's, "Lectures on Faith by Joseph Smith". Or from Elder Gene R. Cook. They have some great talks. Or if not those maybe a book. Lectures on Faith or Articles of Faith by Talmage. I don't know. If you can but if not don't even worry about it. I will definitely live trust me. But anyway. I am fantastic. We have had a good week. Ok like the last two days or something where good. We pretty much doubled our lessons yesterday. We taught like 6 lessons yesterday. Sundays are always the best days. But yea we had a good week. I'm trying to remember what we did. Besides the Zone Conference and the snow. I don't think that we did anything. Well besides teach and all that fun stuff that we normally do. So I don't think it's like that exciting that I haven't already told you. So sorry ha.

Sounds like you had a good week. With shooting pictures and stuff. I'm glad that everything turned out. You will have to congradulate Shelby for me. That is awesome! And I'm glad you guys had a good Easter. We did too. Luckily I didn't have to talk like Kris did. But that is cool that she did good. And he Kris good job for not crying one single time!!!! ;) haha. But no we didn't eat with a member. Well we did but we ate with Mamita just like every other Sunday. We never eat just on our own mom. We eat with them every day. On Tuesdays we have meal appointments with members and Monday we cook our own food because it's P-Day. But that is about it. So we were with Mamita, Papito, and Paula. Just like every other day pretty much. But it was awesome. I'm not complaining at all. It was good. But I'm glad that everything went well for you guys. And especially in Hawaii! I love the pictures. I want to go back. For real. I love it there. But I love it here also. So I'm good with whatever. Hopefully your week goes well! Especially since your all super busy. I hope that all is good. Especially with dad taking classes and you busy everynight mom. But hopefully all goes well. Just think. In one week I will know if I am leaving Puerto Natales or not. So that is something to look forward too right? That's cool that your reading the Doctrine and Covenents with me. It is awesome. I am in Section 30 now. So I will read that tomorrow. But they are awesome. We talked a lot about Section 88 in the Zone Conference. But anyway I love you guys to death! Oh yea and make sure you tell Natalie and Dave hi for me in Ken Garff and all the other guys there!! Tell them I'm doing great and they are all awesome. How much do they have to do to the truck? Just a question. But ok I love you. Hope that everything is going good for you right now in your lives. I know that the Savior lives and that he is a resurected being. And perfect. He is amazing and he loves us so very much!! He lives!!

Con mucho amor,

Hello from Puerto Natales

Hey fam how are you?!

So I'm doing great this p day. I is super rainy but what can you do. Like yesterday was like the worst day that we have had I'm pretty sure. We were soaked!! Like all of our stuff got soaked too. Elder Abel (my comp) had all of his stuff get wet! Like his Book of Mormon and Bible. So he was pretty upset. We were in the rain like all day. We taught one lesson. But he was really awesome. He is a new. We are finding some really awesome people we just have to get back into their house. That is the problem. But his books and all his documents got wet and stuff. I feel bad. He did pretty good at getting things back to order. Well his documents. He ironed them and threw some books on top. Those look good at least. But all my clothes were just soaked. It was just bad. But we are good here today. It's been raining but not too bad. Just sprinkling. It's ok. But we are just hanging out. We have been in the house like all day because it's been raining and we just don't have anything to do. So it has been just really relaxed and hanging out. But I finally just pulled out my boots and I'm going to be using them today. Oh and I am getting my scripture stuff soon. Well I'm ordering it but I'm met the lady and stuff and she is going to do it really fast because they are friends with Paula or the daughter of papito and mamita. So I'm super excited about that. But it has been a good week. We have had success. And a little miracle happened yesterday. We have members from Argentina because we are the closest building to them. And they have a little brother who is staying with them and they want him to get baptized. He is 11 years old. So he has come to church with me 2 times already and so all we have to do is teach him and I'm pretty sure that is what we are going to do and he can get baptized technically in two weeks once he comes to church one more time with me. So we are really excited for that. They want him baptized because he is living with them. So that is really awesome. We are getting a little miracle from the Lord. It's awesome to see. We are super excited!!

But other than that we are just having a great time in Puerto Natales. Just teaching the sector to my new comp. He is from Washington. But he graduated the same year I did but went to Notre Dame instead of working. So that was cool. Going to Punta Arenas was fun. Like always we just sat on the bus for 3 hours. But we slept because we left in the morning at 7 and had to wake up early at like 5ish. Because Elder Ruettinger had to finish packing. But that time went by way too fast. Just weird to think that I'm up next. It doesn't even feel like I've been here for that long. It's crazy. I did get my package but I haven't opened it yet. I figured I'd wait because I'm not going to have anything else right? So I figured it be better to wait and have something on my birthday. But I'm ok with waiting.

So I sent you guys the big one because I figured that I would probably get another big one for me too. Just because that is a part of Chile especially down here in the south with the Maupuchans. They are the indians of southern Chile. Some type of Lamanites haha. But I can wait. Did you give them all out for me? Well the little ones. They are so funny. I'm pretty sure that we did go off of daylight savings but I don't even know. I'm pretty sure but I don't have any idea. But we are great here that's about all that I know. Oh but yes it is dark here a lot now. But I'm ok with it. It's awesome. I don't mind the dark. It's definitely easier to sleep haha even though we have huge blankets over the windows here. Everybody does. Or their blinds are really thick and they have two kinds of blinds. But either way it doesn't let any light in. So that is awesome. Oh just for your fun fact of the day. Yes the toilet does flush counter-clockwise. So yes it's very entertaining. Very fun. But as for the Southern Cross I have not seen it. There hasn't been like a ton of constillations or stars. But oh well what can you do?

Wow you guys are doing good with the Book of Mormon. I'm in Ether like 8-10. I can't remember exactly. But I know that I'm almost done. And when I finish I am going to start the Doctrine and Covenents for my Personal Study. Well part of it. So that is going to be great!!

Well we are working hard!! I love all you guys so much and I hope that your having a great week and day and life haha. But I hope to hear from all of you soon. I know that I'm here for a reason and I'm doing my best to find that reason. I love the Gospel and our Savior. I am trying to bring people unto him to make their lives better. And I know that is what our message is. Happiness. It's amazing. Well I love you guys. Thanks for all the support and love in return!! Talk to you guys later.

Love,

Elder Tyler Jolley
